MATOSINHOS (Portugal) – Daniele Paunksnyte produced a phenomenal display for Lithuania to write her name into FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket history with a record-breaking 43 point haul.
She put her name up in lights by producing a career night display and the best ever seen in the competition as her epic tally helped her team to ride past Israel 101-95.
Paunksnyte made a stunning eight downtown scores and also went 15 of 17 from the free-throw line as her opponents tried in vain to slow her down.
Only the third player to ever hit the 40-point landmark in the competition, the Lithuanian climbed to the top of the all-time chart off the back of her efforts.
She stepped past Daniela Cikosova of Slovakia who was the first baller to have dropped 40 points, way back in 2001. Paunksnyte also took over Melisa Brcaninovic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who was the last player to accomplish the milestone - ironically, also in Matosinhos nine years ago.
