On day two of the Zone 4 Women's Basketball League Africa (WBLA) qualifiers, Democratic Republic of Congo teams Hatari ASB and CNSS secured their second victories in Groups A and B, respectively.

BRAZZAVILLE (Congo) - Charbo Squad, who lost to Cameroon's Forces Armées et Police (FAP) on the opening day, bounced back by beating Interclub to bring their record to 1–1.

    Here's the day's action:

Hatari stay dangerous with victory against Overdose Up Station

The Angolan duo of Nelma Cunha and Magda Mussol combined for 50 points in a 73-53 victory for Hatari ASB over Cameroon's Overdose Up Station, topping the three-team Group A.

Hatari got the game underway with a trey from Cunha. The Central Africans took the lead with back-to-back layups to make it 4-3, but Mussol restored Hatari's advantage at 5-4, and they never relinquished it, racing to a 17-6 lead in the opening quarter. An eight-point run in the opening four minutes brought Overdose back to within three points (17–14), but Hatari managed to maintain their lead, going into halftime with a score of 31–24.

Having sensed danger from the Overdose surge in the second quarter, Muamba Ilunga's team won the third quarter 25-12 to pull further ahead. The 20-point lead remained at full time following a 17-17 final quarter.

Cunha shot 4-of-6 from range and missed only once in eight attempts from the line, adding five baskets from inside to finish with 29 points and come within two rebounds of a double-double.

Mussol scored 21 points, adding four rebounds, three assists and four steals. Anna Kitenge Maluza scored 10, and Dede Alima Saliboko led the defence with 10 rebounds.

Guindo, Dicko power Charbo Squad over InterClub

Aminata Guindo's double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Badiallo Dicko's team-high 21 points, secured a 73-51 victory for Garbon's Charbo Squad over the home side Interclub, who crumbled in the second quarter.

Both teams went into the match looking for their first win after losing to FAP and CNSS on the first day, and this was evident in a closely fought opening quarter, with the Gabonese taking a slight 15-12 advantage.

However, Imono Mbany Mvoula played a second quarter to forget, going for long spells without scoring a basket in a 21-7 period that left them trailing 36-19 at half-time.

Despite being outscored by just five in the second half, the damage had already been done.

Interclub's 29 turnovers proved costly, with Charbo Squad capitalising on them to score 28 points, while restricting the home side to just four from their 15 attempts.

CNSS overcome slow start to pick statement win against FAP

It took Congo DR's CNSS an entire quarter to gain momentum against Cameroon's FAP. Trailing 11-9 after the first 10 minutes, they built up a comeback with a 24-18 second quarter, leading 33-29 at halftime.

CNSS held the opposition to a slow third quarter of 12-5 to take an 11-point lead into the final stanza, where they won 24-17 to secure their second victory, 69-51.

Deborah Kaba Mayimona and Djelika Tounkara anchored CNSS at both ends of the court, scoring 26 and 22 points respectively, with the latter achieving a double-double with 12 rebounds — three more than her compatriot.

The Congolese side managed to shut down FAP's double-double threat, Damaris Emedie, restricting her to just four points. Bintou Dramé was the top scorer for the military side with 19 points and was the only player from her team to score in double digits.

However, it was CNSS's dominance in the paint, with a 42–10 score, and their bench contribution of 30–13 that secured their victory.
