BRAZZAVILLE (Republic of Congo) - Cameroon's Forces Armées et Police (FAP) finished second in the seven-team competition, and another Congolese side, ASB Hatari, completed the top three after a close encounter with Cameroon's Overdose Up Station.
Here's how the day's action unfolded:
CNSS crowned Zone 4 champions
CNSS will head to the 2026 WBLA as the Zone 4 regional champions after securing a 61-40 victory against FAP and being crowned the Zone 4 champions.
Both teams had qualified for the African competition by winning their respective semi-finals, and played in the final on Wednesday, 28 October.
This was CNSS's second victory over the Cameroonians, as the two teams had previously competed in the group phase with a final score of 69–51.
In the final, FAP put up a respectable fight in the opening quarter, trailing 13–12.
However, they were overpowered 15–9 in the second quarter and went into the halftime break seven points behind.
CNSS played their best basketball during the third period, however, scoring 26 points while holding the Cameroonians to just four, to lead 54-25 — an insurmountable lead for a struggling FAP, who fought back with a 15-7 finish, but it was too little, too late.
Deborah Kaba Mayimona and Djelika Tounkara anchored CNSS with double-doubles; the former led the scoring with 15 points and 15 rebounds.
Tounkara, for her part, registered her third double-double of the competition with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Ketia Mbelu scored eight points, adding six rebounds, seven assists and six steals. Susanne Eben contributed 14 points to the final tally.
CNSS managed to keep all FAP scorers below double digits, but could not contain Damaris Emedié on the boards. She pulled down a game-high 20 rebounds and missed out on a double-double by a single point.
Hatari survive Overdose Up Station to finish third
In the closest match witnessed in the Zone 4 qualifiers, ASB Hatari dug deep to secure a 53-52 victory for third place.
There were eight lead changes and nine ties in a closely contested match, with neither side able to pull ahead as both enjoyed scoring runs that made it anyone's game until the very end.
Hatari led 28-21 at half-time, but the Cameroonians made a strong comeback in the second half, outscoring their opponents 19-7 to take the lead.
Roger Dassi's Overdose went on an 8–2 run in the opening five minutes of the third to reduce the deficit to 30–29.
Myriam Guiolobo shot from range with 4:15 left, with Marwina Williams adding five more to give Overdose the lead at 37–33. It was now Hatari who were on the chase.
The Cameroonians started the final stanza with a 40–35 advantage, but Hatari fought back to briefly take the lead at 44–43 through a Magda Mussol layup with 4:20 remaining.
She repeated the feat at 47–45, but Overdose were not going to give up easily. The contest went down to the final minute, when Anna Kitenge Maluza put Overdose ahead at 52–51.
However, Mussol drew a foul with eight seconds on the clock and converted both free throws to hand the Congolese side victory. She led the team in scoring with 17 points, converting 5 out of 8 free throws, and made a crucial contribution at a crucial time.
She also had seven rebounds, two assists and a steal, giving her an efficiency rating of 15. Maluza added 10 points, and Dede Alima Saliboko led the team's rebounding with nine.
