GOYANG (Korea) - China are heading to the Second Round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers after defeating Chinese Taipei, 92-74, on Monday.
Needing a victory to secure qualification, the Chinese delivered behind seasoned veteran Zhao Jiwei's 17 points, 6 assists and five three-pointers. Hu Jinqiu also impressed with 13 points and 6 boards as China booked their place in the next phase.
Coach Guo Shiqiang's squad needed just one strong half to build a big enough cushion against Chinese Taipei, who just couldn't find a steady enough offensive rhythm despite a playing more competitively in the second half. It was utter dominance from China, who led for all but 33 seconds of the contest and by as many as 32 points at one point.
