Betts, Davidson and Robinson headline USA candidates for Brno

    The holders have released their long list ahead of upcoming trials.

    COLORADO SPRINGS (USA) - Reigning champions USA have cast their net wide and named a squad of 27 players as they begin preparations to defend their cherished FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup crown in Brno. The candidate list ahead of trials in Colorado Springs is not only long, but also dripping with talent — including plenty of ballers who bring previous FIBA international experience. It features 26 athletes with past USA Basketball experience, 17 of whom have already combined to lift 23 trophies at FIBA events.

    Frontcourt star Sienna Betts shone in a USA vest previously when she was named to the All-Star Five at the FIBA U18 Women's AmeriCup 2024. She is included along with seven members of the team that won the tournament.

    She will be joined by Jasmine ‘Jazzy’ Davidson, Madison Francis, Kayleigh Heckel, ZaKiya Johnson, Jordan Lee and Alivia McGill.

    19-9-5 for Sienna Betts against World Select Team at Women’s Nike Hoop Summit

    Betts also caught the eye with a big show at the Nike Hoop Summit 2025 - as did Davidson who led USA past the World Select team with an impressive showing.

    Davidson also won the 2024 FIBA 3x3 U18 Women’s World Cup title and will feature alongside fellow teammate Saniyah Hall.

    Meanwhile there is also a spot for the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup 2024 TISSOT MVP Jerzy Robinson, who carried her country to the top step of the podium in Leon, Mexico. She is joined by her colleagues from Leon, Mexico in Kelsi Andrews, Addison Bjorn, Lanie Grant, Hailee Swain and Emilee Skinner.

    The team will be coached by Teri Moren of (Indiana University, Jose Fernandez of University of South Florida and Niele Ivey of University of Notre Dame. The trio won it all last year at the FIBA U18 Women's AmeriCup so are used to working with many of the players looking to impress.

    USA are scheduled to face Hungary, Israel and Korea in Group A.
