Giants rose, shots fell and Shanghai’s opening day set the stage for drama.

SHANGHAI (China) – The FIBA 3x3 World Tour Shanghai 2025 tipped off with fireworks as Amsterdam RABOBANK and Ub stormed and swept their pools on a day that saw three games go into overtime. From clutch escapes to ruthless blowouts, both squads sent an early message: the road to glory in Shanghai will be anything but easy.

    Amsterdam Rolls Early

Amsterdam RABOBANK looked locked in from the jump, grinding out back-to-back thrillers to top Pool B. Worthy De Jong (11 points) delivered the knockout blow in a nail-biting 22-21 overtime opener against Skyliner, before the Dutch crew held off a spirited Riffa side, 17-15. Still chasing their first major World Tour crown this season, Amsterdam’s fiery start begs the question: can they finally break through?

    Ub Charges Forward

World No. 1 Ub showed why they’re the team to beat, cruising through Pool A with their trademark mix of size and swagger. Nenad Nerandžić dropped 8 points to fuel a 21-12 rout of Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy before the Serbians powered past Partizan in a hard-fought contest. Ub march into the Quarter-Finals with authority, joined from the group by Partizan.

    Chongming Dig Deep

The hometown heroes from Chongming gave their fans a rollercoaster ride on Day One. They stumbled out of the gates with a narrow 18-16 defeat to Toulouse, but showed resilience when it mattered most. In a gritty must-win clash against Hangzhou, Wu Xingrui delivered clutch buckets down the stretch to seal a 19-17 victory and secure a spot in the Quarter-Finals.
