Lithuania will play host to this summer's FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket

    Everything you need to know before this summer's tournament.

    ALYTUS & KLAIPEDA (Lithuania) - This summer's FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket takes place in Lithuania, showcasing the sport's future stars.

    The tournament will be staged in Alytus and Klaipeda on July 4-12

    Who is participating?

    A total of 16 teams will compete for U20 Women's EuroBasket glory. They have been split into four groups of four for the Group Phase:

    Group A: Israel, Spain, Lithuania, Croatia Group B: Sweden, Germany, Hungary, Latvia Group C: Poland, Serbia, Iceland, Italy Group D: Türkiye, Slovenia, Belgium, France

    What is the schedule?

    The Group Phase will take place over the first three days, followed by a rest day on July 6. The final Group games will determine the Round of 16 seedings based on their positions.

    The competition will continue in a bracket format until the Final on July 12, with the Classification Games also determining each of the 16 positions.

    Who were the winners in 2025?

    Spain celebrated winning the FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket title for a 10th time after powering past first-time finalists Lithuania.

    The two teams were tied at 19-19 after 10 minutes, but Spain racked up an impressive 37 points in the second quarter on their way to a 102-50 triumph in Matosinhos.

    Carla Viegas top-scored in the win with 17 points, with three other players in double figures in scoring, including Marina Mata, who starred with 14 points without a miss, along with 9 rebounds and 5 assists.

    Italy claimed the final spot on the podium for the third time in the past four editions with an 84-51 victory over Sweden in the Third Place Game.

    Elsewhere, Portugal, the Netherlands and Czechia were relegated, with Hungary, Serbia and Croatia taking their place at this summer's event.

    Former MVPs

    18-year-old Gina Garcia was the heartbeat of a Spanish side that combined flair with ruthless efficiency, delivering key performances when the stakes were highest. It was only right that she was named the tournament MVP - the second consecutive Spanish player to win the award.

    Averaging 11.3 points, 4.9 assists, and 1.6 steals per game, Garcia dazzled fans with her ability to control the game and deliver when it mattered most. Her standout performance came in the Quarter-Finals against Türkiye, where she posted 20 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals.

    Roll of honor

    Spain maintains its stranglehold on the top spot following a 10th first-place podium last summer and 15 medals in total. France are second on the list, courtesy of their five titles and a combined 12 spots on the podium.
