PITESTI (Romania) - The showcase FIBA U16 Women's EuroBasket tournament will be the penultimate youth event in the summer of 2025.
The tournament will take place in Pitesti, Romania, from August 15-23.
Who is participating?
A total of 16 teams will compete for glory in this age category. They have been split into four groups of four for the Group Phase as follows:
Group A: Great Britain, Slovenia, Latvia, Spain Group B: Czechia, Poland, Hungary, Finland Group C: Romania, Serbia, Belgium, France Group D: Israel, Germany, Croatia, Italy
What is the schedule?
The Group Phase will take place over the opening three days of the tournament, with a rest day on August 18. Based on their group position, teams will be seeded for the Round of 16 stage.
The competition will continue as a tournament bracket until the Final on August 23, with Classification games also determining each of the 16 positions.

Who were the winners in 2024?
Finland secured their first-ever youth European title by shocking two-time defending champions France 49-47 in the Final.
Paced by the trio of double-digit scorers Jessi Nenonen, Aino Koskela, and Anna Gardziella, Finland had the upper hand for most of the contest, leading by as many as 12 points in the third period.
France managed to keep the game close down the stretch, keeping the Finns to just four points in the final quarter, but they couldn't find their own rhythm on offense.
Nenonen led Finland with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Kathy-Emma Otto paced the French with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
After topping Italy in the Third-Place Game, Spain has landed on the podium for the fifth time in a row. However, they are still waiting for an end to their title wait, the last one coming in 2016.
Elsewhere, in Division B, Czechia, Romania, and Great Britain earned promotion in Türkiye. The trio will replace Greece, Sweden, and Montenegro after they finished in the bottom three.
Former MVPs
Despite missing out on a three-peat, Otto was crowned MVP in 2024 for France.
Otto dropped her third tournament double-double in the Final, but came up short on a third straight gold medal. The talented forward's presence on the boards was top 10 in the tournament, averaging 10.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.

Roll of honor
Spain is the only team to have reached double-digits in terms of titles, and it is also the nation with the most podium finishes in competition history. However, its last success was in 2016.
