PITESTI (Romania) - Spain were crowned FIBA U16 Women's EuroBasket 2025 champions after defeating Slovenia 62-47 in the Final to secure their 11th title in the competition's history.
The triumph came at the end of an unbeaten campaign, earning Spain their first U16 title since 2016 and completing a historic triple crown of the women's FIBA Youth EuroBaskets in 2025, after also winning the U18 and U20 tournaments earlier this summer.
It is only the second time in history that all three women's youth titles have been won in the same year – both achieved by Spain, first in 2013 and now in 2025.
Runners-up Slovenia also made history with their first-ever medal at the event.
Isabel Hernandez of Spain claimed the MVP honors after leading her side to the top, averaging a team-high 13.7 points, as well as 3.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.0 steals per game.
She was joined in the All-Star Five by Slovenia's duo Veronica Ferjancic and Ota Pozin, as well as Mia Wiegand of Germany and Latvia's Sindija Sondore.
Germany defeated Latvia 71-66 in the Third-Place Game to return to the podium for the first time since 2016, while there was also joy for Serbia, who topped Italy 70-66 in the Classification 5-6 game.
The top five teams also earned qualification to the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup 2026.
Meanwhile, Belgium, Finland and Great Britain were relegated from Division A after finishing in the bottom three places.
They will be replaced by the top three teams from the FIBA U16 Women's EuroBasket 2025, Division B in Istanbul, Türkiye, set to conclude next week.
