CHENGDU (China) - The FIBA 3x3 World Tour 2025 is moving quickly as anticipation builds for the fan favorite World Tour Chengdu . Here is all the important information as 3x3 celebrates its 10th anniversary in the world-famous panda city.
Where can I watch the WT Chengdu ? The action runs from May 3-4, and you can follow it live on the FIBA 3x3 YouTube, Facebook and Sina Weibo pages. Who is competing in Chengdu? Seven of the top 13 teams in the rankings and a total of 14 squads: Ub, Amsterdam RABOBANK, Raudondvaris Hoptrans, London, Lausanne, Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy, Baskets Bonn, Chongming, Hangzhou, Shinagawa, Sagamihara, Bayankhairhan MIG, Yokohama, Vracar What are the pools?
Pool A: Ub (SRB), Baskets Bonn (GER), Hangzhou (CHN) Pool B: Amsterdam RABOBANK (NED), Chongming (CHN), Shinagawa (JPN) Pool C: Raudondvaris Hoptrans (LTU), Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy (MGL), Sagamihara (JPN) Pool D: London (USA), Lausanne (SUI), QD Who are the favorites?
We just have to start with the reigning World Tour Final champs Amsterdam RABOBANK (NED), who almost started 2025 where they left off last year. The Dutch Masters fell agonizingly short after losing to Miami (USA) in an epic final at the Utsunomiya Opener, but they did enough to underline their favoritism.
It may be disrespectful, perhaps fuelling them with added motivation, that Ub don't have top billing despite being the defending champs and top seed in Chengdu. But Ub could not reach a fourth consecutive final in Utsunomiya after a narrow loss to rival Amsterdam in an early psychological blow.
However, Ub will have pleasant memories of Chengdu and the familiar surroundings might just lift them to a successful title defense.
Third seed Raudondvaris Hoptrans (LTU) were unable to make the final four, but should fancy their chances of a deep run after big fella Aurelijus Pukelis was lights out in Utsunomiya.
Chongming (CHN) should have plenty of support from the Chinese fans and any team boasting 3x3's GOAT superheroes Karlis Lasmanis and Nauris Miezis just always have to be treated seriously.
Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy (MGL) are former champs on the World Tour and will be a nightmare for opponents to score on with defensive master Dulguun Enkhbat and brute Delgernyam Davaasambuu capable of intimidating the very best scorers. Long-time fan darlings Lausanne (SUI) have one of the longest hexes in 3x3 having incredibly never won a title on the World Tour despite so many times coming close.
They get a chance to bury this hoodoo in Chengdu, but whatever happens the Swiss Maestros will surely entertain because they have Giles Martin, who does some of the trippiest things imaginable with the Wilson in his hands.
Who are the players to watch?
First round to 'Hype Worthy'. The battle of the crown is going to last all season long and the holder, Worthy de Jong, won the first battle after outplaying GOAT Strahinja Stojacic in the semis in Utsunomiya.
We can't wait to see who has the better tournament in Chengdu and - look out! - if they again play one another.
There are plenty of other players to keep a close eye on and we love nothing more than new stars emerging.
Justin Pierce for new team London (USA) showed in Utsunomiya that he can put defenders on a poster, while Shinagawa's (JPN) Ryo Ozawa is ready for a World Tour breakout after setting a new record of 20 points in a single game at the Asia Cup.
No mention of emerging 3x3 talents can be made without including Baskets Bonn (GER) young guns Denzel Agyeman and Fabian Giessmann, who both successfully made the jump to the World Tour last year.
After having a taste of the highest level, the rising duo are ready to straight out dominate and that means a concoction of nasty dunks, emphatic rejections and plenty of dubs.
