CAIRO (Egypt) - Rwanda's men and Egypt's women impressed on the first day of competition at the FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup 2022 in Cairo, Egypt.

    CAIRO (Egypt) - Rwanda's men and Egypt's women impressed on the first day of competition at the FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup 2022 in Cairo, Egypt.

    THE TEAMS

    Rwanda's men shocked the competition defeating 2019 winners Egypt in a nail-biter 21-19 to finish Day 1 undefeated and on top of Pool A. They would also defeat Botswana 15-7. Led by Jacques Wilson with 17 points, Rwanda could be one of the positive surprises of the competition. 

     In the women's side, reigning champs Egypt continued their domination and they count all their games as wins as they defeated both Madagascar (21-13) and Tunisia (17-10) to top women's Pool A. 

     THE PLAYER

    Deborah Mayimona did it all for Democratic Republic of the Congo and finished the opening day of the Africa Cup 2022 as top scorer with 20 points, including 12pts in their win over Bein (19-14).

    DAY 2

    Sunday, December 4, will see the end of the pool stage and the knock-out rounds.
