LOME (FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup 2017) - Nassira Traore was named MVP of the FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup after leading Mali to gold.

She was joined on the team of the tournament by Jamila Nansikombi (Uganda) and Nigeria’s Nkechi Akashili in Lomé, Togo on November 3-5, 2017.

The 28-year-old was instrumental in the charge of winning the first edition of the FIBA 3X3 Africa Cup.

Traore said the win has restored their confidence. She told fiba.basketball that while she commends the Nigeria side, a winner must emerge.

"It’s good to be a winner. Nigeria was a good side but a winner must emerge and it came the way of Mali. We’re happy to be Africa champions for this first-ever FIBA 3x3 event."

Akashili finished third overall in scoring and fell just 2-point short of a gold medal in Togo while the sharpshooter Nansikombi topped all women in scoring during the event.
