ZARAGOZA (Spain) – Ruben Burgos has been handed the EuroLeague Women Coach of the Year award in recognition of his work at the helm of Valencia Basket Club.

The playercaller has guided his team to a best-ever EuroLeague Women finish after they made the Semi-Finals of the competition for the first time in their history.

He is the third Spanish coach to have picked up the honor, following on from the inaugural recipient Victor Lapena in 2020 and then Roberto Iniguez who went back to back with consecutive awards in 2021 and 2022.

Burgos was selected for the honor via a combination of the votes of EuroLeague Women coaches, players, selected media and the fans. He beat off competition from the two other Finalists in the category, who were Valerie Garnier of Fenerbahce Opet and Georgios Dikaioulakos of Beretta Famila Schio.
