BEIRUT (Lebanon) - There really is no other term to describe Al Bashaer's comeback to the FIBA West Asia Super League (WASL) this season but... redemption.
Of course, the same may go for all the other teams returning to the pan-regional meet but in the current field, none other than the champions of Oman are entering the 2024/2025 tilt with much eagerness to prove themselves worthy.
That's because they went winless in the FIBA WASL inaugurals, going 0-6 and eventually finished the 2022/2023 season as the only team without a W.
It's a tough pill to swallow, no doubt. But now that they have returned to the league, surely many eyes will be on Al Bashaer if they could deliver better this time.
History
Like the other contestants, Al Bashaer have been a multi-sport club bannered by their football program. But in 2021, the men's basketball side would bring honor to the organization after winning its first-ever Oman Basketball League championship.
It would also be their ticket to the first FIBA WASL, where they would be written in its young history after player Aaron Clyde Parks scored the league's first-ever points against Shabab Al Ahli, helping usher in a new era of club competition in the region.

Al Bashaer play their home games at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, a state-owned multipurpose complex situated at the Bawshare district in Muscat.
Path to 2024/2025 FIBA WASL
Like mentioned above, Al Bashaer copped their breakthrough domestic basketball league title in 2021 and since then, they have gone on to win the next two - including the 2024 crown. And that paved their way back into FIBA WASL.
