MATOSINHOS (Portugal) - Spain unleashed a clinical and commanding performance to capture their 10th FIBA U20 Women’s EuroBasket title with a resounding 102-50 victory over Lithuania in Sunday’s Final.
The emphatic win capped off a spectacular tournament for Spain, while Lithuania celebrated a landmark achievement - their best-ever finish at the competition.
Elsewhere on the final day, Italy roared back from their Semi-Final heartbreak to dominate Sweden 84-51 and claim bronze, and hosts Portugal suffered the agony of relegation after losing a hard-fought battle 72-65 to France in the Classification 13-14 showdown.

After a tight first quarter that saw Lithuania hold their own in their debut Final appearance, Spain seized control in the second, pouring in 37 points while limiting Lithuania to just 12.
They didn’t relent in the second half, applying relentless defensive pressure that restricted Lithuania to just 19 points for the remainder of the game. Offensively, the 2024 silver medalists continued to find their way to the basket, shooting an impressive 50 percent from beyond the arc while dominating the glass with 20 offensive rebounds, creating countless second-chance opportunities.
Spain’s balanced attack featured four players scoring in double figures, led by Clara Viegas’ 17 points. Gina Garcia, the tournament MVP, showcased her leadership with another composed performance at point guard, contributing 9 points, 8 assists, 2 steals, and just 1 turnover.
With the outcome all but decided midway through the third quarter, credit must go to Lithuania, who fought hard throughout and gained invaluable experience that will serve their players well in future competitions. Daniele Paunksnyte led the way for Lithuania with 21 points.
For Spain, it’s a triumphant return to the top, cementing their status as a dominant force in European women’s basketball, while Lithuania announces themselves as an emerging team with a historic runners-up finish.

Italy cruised to a dominant 84-51 win over Sweden to claim third place, powering home with relentless offense and tough defense.
Candy Edokpaigbe led the charge with 17 points, while Sophia Lussignoli added 13 points and 5 assists as Italy’s balanced attack left Sweden struggling to keep pace.
Tilda Trygger stood out for Sweden with 10 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 blocks, but it wasn’t enough to stem Italy’s flow.
The win earned Italy their third bronze in four editions at the U20 Women’s EuroBasket, while Sweden celebrated their best-ever finish in the competition.

Latvia’s Madara Smite was instrumental in her team’s push for an 11th-place finish, putting up 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 steals, finishing with a game-high efficiency rating of 29. Her defensive tenacity and scoring ability pushed Latvia to a 79-74 win over Slovenia. Evelina Otto also stood out for Latvia with her dominant inside presence, posting a huge double-double with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 blocks.
Marina Mata was instrumental in Spain’s commanding championship campaign, delivering 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists in the Final alongside strong performances in key matchups. Alicia Courthiau was a standout for Belgium in their dominant 96–73 victory over Israel in the Classification Game 5-6. She contributed 21 points and 6 rebounds, playing a key role in Belgium tying their best-ever finish in Division A, matching their 5th place in 2006 and 2007.
