MUNICH (Germany) - Every summer, FIBA Youth EuroBaskets give Europe's top young talent a chance to shine on the big stage for their country.
A look back at past events shows just how many great players have starred in Youth EuroBaskets before going on to great things at the club and national team level.
Every summer, one player stands out above the rest and is named Most Valuable Player for helping their country take the trophy.
So, what happened to the most recent winners?
Here's a look at the last five winners, how they performed at FIBA U20 EuroBasket, and where the game has taken them since.
2025: Francesco Ferrari (ITA)
Then: Ferrari tallied 15.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists - including 26 points in the Final - in leading Italy to the country's third U20 EuroBasket championship.
Now: Ferrari appeared at the FIBA U18 EuroBasket 2023 and then at the U20 EuroBasket 2024 as well. He played in the Italian third division Borgomanero until moving to Cividale in the second division for the 2024-25 season. In January 2026, he left Cividale and joined Italian top flight side Virtus Bologna.
2024: Zacharie Perrin (FRA)
Then: Perrin collected 15.4 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists as France won the title - clinching back-to-back crowns for a third U20 EuroBasket championship.
Now: Perrin had been named to the All-Star Five of the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2023. The forward played in France's top flight for SLUC Nancy having withdrawn his name from the NBA Draft in 2024. In the summer of 2025, Perrin moved to Germany and played for Veolia Towers Hamburg.
2023: Ilias Kamardine (FRA)
Then: Kamardine was one of the stars of the tournament with 14.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists as France hoisted the trophy for the first time since 2010.
Now: The guard shined in his first appearance for France. But he also was a leader for ProA team JDA Dijon Bourgogne in 2024-25 - both in the French league and the FIBA Europe Cup, where they reached the Semi-Finals. Kamardine went to the United States this season to play college basketball at the University of Mississippi.
2022: Juan Nunez (ESP)
Then: Nunez tallied 11.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 4.9 assists as Spain won their first U20 EuroBasket title since 2016.
Now: Nunez came up with Real Madrid and starred for two seasons at ratiopharm Ulm in Germany, after which the point guard was drafted by Indiana Pacers in the 2024 NBA Draft - with his rights traded to San Antonio Spurs. Nunez played this season with Spanish powers Barcelona. Nunez also advanced to the Spanish senior national team; playing at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 and the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament 2024 Spain.
2019: Deni Avdija (ISR)
Then: Avdija was a leading force as Israel claimed back-to-back U20 EuroBaskets, averaging 18.4 points, 8.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists at the 2019 event.
Now: The playmaking forward started his Israeli senior national team career in 2019, playing at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 European Qualifiers. He also shined at the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 - averaging 24 points per game. Avdija played from 2020 to 2024 for four seasons with Washington in the NBA before moving to Portland, where he took the team to the 2026 NBA playoffs following a regular season in which he poured in a career-high 24.2 points per contest.
