LJUBLJANA (Slovenia) - The Group Phase of the FIBA U20 EuroBasket 2026 is in the books after three action-packed days of competition, with plenty of closely contested games, all-time performances and high-level basketball from some of Europe's brightest young talents.

As teams prepare for the Round of 16, we highlight 10 players who have made the biggest impact so far and could shape the defining stages of the tournament.

    Mantas Juzenas - Lithuania

    Small Forward

    Birth Date: November 16, 2007 (18 years old) Height: 2.00m (6ft 7in) Tournament Stats: 22.7 PPG, 9.3 RPG, 2.3 APG, 0.7 SPG, 0.3 BPG

Juzenas delivered not only the best performance of the tournament, but one of the greatest performances in FIBA U20 EuroBasket history with his 46-point, 12-rebound, 5-assist outing in the final Group Phase game against Poland. The 18-year-old leads the tournament in scoring, ranks second in rebounds per game, and is doing it on tremendous efficiency, shooting 52.1 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from three, and 90.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Juzenas' offensive firepower and prolific rebounding will be key for Lithuania going forward as they head into a tough Round of 16 matchup against Türkiye.

    Nikola Dzepina - Serbia

    Power Forward

    Birth Date: July 31, 2006 (19 years old) Height: 2.07m (6ft 9in) Tournament Stats: 17.7 PPG, 8.7 RPG, 2.3 APG, 1 SPG, 1.3 BPG

Serbia has cruised through the Group Phase, winning all three of its games and proving to be one of the top defensive teams in the competition, holding opponents to just 63.3 points per game. One of the keys to that defensive dominance has been Nikola Dzepina, who has emerged as one of the best big men in the tournament. The Washington Huskies commit has made an impact on both ends of the floor, ranking in the top three in points, rebounds, blocks, and field goal percentage.

Serbia will face reigning U20 champions Italy in the Round of 16, but the team has in Dzepina a clear difference-maker who could lead Serbia to its first U20 title in more than a decade.

    Omer Kutluay - Türkiye

    Point Guard

    Birth Date: March 27, 2009 (17 years old) Height: 1.93m (6ft 4in) Tournament Stats: 13.7 PPG, 3.0 APG, 2.0 RPG, 0.7 SPG

Kutluay was named to the All-Star Five at the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup after leading the tournament in assists and finishing as its second-leading scorer. One week later, the 17-year-old is once again putting his prolific offensive arsenal on display at the FIBA U20 EuroBasket. The Real Madrid prospect has been able to create his own shot both off the dribble and on drives to the basket, with his score-first mentality proving to be a tremendous fit alongside Salih Altuntas, who leads the competition in rebounding, and one of the tournament's best passers in Kaan Onat.

Türkiye won just one game during the Group Phase, but it shouldn't be a surprise if they reach the latter stages of the competition in Ljubljana, as they have one of the most talented rosters in the field.

    Urban Kroflic - Slovenia

    Shooting Guard

    Birth Date: March 28, 2006 (20 years old) Height: 1.98m (6ft 6in) Tournament Stats: 13.3 PPG, 6.7 RPG, 3.7 APG, 2.0 SPG, 0.7 BPG

Slovenia has not disappointed its home crowd, winning all three of its Group Phase games by an average margin of 26.7 points. One of the key players for Slovenia has been Kroflic, who is leading the team in both points and rebounds per game while also contributing with his three-point shooting and playmaking.

Kroflic had a tremendous 2025-26 season, emerging as one of the top prospects in the Adriatic League with Mega Basket and becoming a regular contributor for the Slovenian senior national team during the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Qualifiers. With both his and Slovenia's level of play so far, he has a great chance to cap off the season with a U20 title on home soil.

    Davi Remagen - Germany

    Guard

    Birth Date: July 09, 2007 (19 years old) Height: 1.88m (6ft 2in) Tournament Stats: 14.3 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 4 APG, 2.7 SPG

Germany sits at a 1-2 record after navigating a tough Group A, but the team's title hopes are still intact, in part due to the emergence of Remagen as Germany's offensive engine. The recent UT Martin commit is one of just two players in the competition to rank in the top 10 in both points and assists per game, while also contributing on the defensive end, with his 2.7 steals per game ranking second among all players in the tournament.

With his all-around game, Remagen could be the key piece that delivers Germany its first-ever U20 title.

    Panagiotis Pagonis - Greece

    Power Forward

    Birth Date: June 30, 2006 (20 years old) Height: 2.04m (6ft 8in) Tournament Stats: 12.7 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.3 SPG, 0.7 BPG

Greece has not had the best start to the tournament, winning just one game during the Group Phase, but it has one of the breakout players of the competition in Pagonis. The recent Drexel commit is leading his team in both points and rebounds, showcasing a complete scoring arsenal that includes tough drives through contact, post-up scoring, and an improved three-point shot, as he is currently shooting 41.7 percent from beyond the arc.

Pagonis will be a key piece for Greece as they head into a Round of 16 matchup against Israel.

    Timeo Pons - France

    Center

    Birth Date: July 04, 2006 (20 years old) Height: 2.02m (6ft 8in) Tournament Stats: 14.3 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 1.0 SPG, 0.3 APG, 0.3 BPG

France entered a tough Group A featuring Germany, Türkiye, and reigning champions Italy and came out unscathed, winning all three of its games. On one of the deepest teams in the competition, Pons has stood out with his efficient scoring. The recent Abilene Christian Wildcats signee ranks in the top 10 in scoring, top five in field goal percentage, and has established himself as one of the top three-point shooters of the Group Phase, shooting 45.5 percent from beyond the arc.

With Pons as its leading offensive weapon, France looks ready to continue its success at the U20 level after reaching the podium in each of the last three editions of the tournament.

    Martins Kilups - Latvia

    Guard

    Birth Date: March 10, 2006 (20 years old) Height: 1.94m (6ft 4in) Tournament Stats: 16.3 PPG, 2.3 RPG, 2.3 APG, 1.0 SPG

Latvia sits at a 1-2 record in its return to Division A after winning last year's Division B tournament. While the team drew a tough Round of 16 opponent in Germany, there are reasons to be optimistic, one of them being Martins Kilups, who is currently the third-leading scorer and one of the best three-point shooters in the competition.

As Latvia heads into its Round of 16 matchup against Germany, the team's primary goal of avoiding relegation seems well within reach, and thanks to Kilups' prolific scoring, it could reach even greater heights in Ljubljana.

    Raul Villar - Spain

    Point Guard

    Birth Date: October 13, 2007 (18 years old) Height: 1.94m (6ft 4in) Tournament Stats: 9.0 PPG, 6.7 APG, 2.7 RPG, 1.7 SPG, 0.3 BPG

Spain is firing on all cylinders, going undefeated during the Group Phase and beating opponents by an average margin of 20.3 points. The team has one of the best floor generals in the tournament in Villar, who ranks second in assists per game and is able to make advanced passing reads and creative deliveries to find teammates all over the court.

Once a dominant force at the U20 level, Spain has failed to reach the Semi-Finals in each of the last three tournaments, but with the level this squad has shown during the Group Phase, it could be the team that restores Spain to U20 glory.

    Codrut Dinu - Romania

    Shooting Guard

    Birth Date: February 26, 2007 (19 years old) Height: 1.93m (6ft 4in) Tournament Stats: 16.3 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 4.0 APG, 1.7 SPG, 1.0 BPG

Romania had a tough Group Phase in which it failed to win a game. However, it can be argued that no player is doing more for his team than Dinu, who leads Romania in points, rebounds, assists, and steals per game. One of just two players in the competition to rank in the top 10 in both points and assists, Dinu has impressed with his quick ball-handling, reactive passing, and ability to generate defensive events.

Romania faces a difficult Round of 16 matchup against an undefeated Spain team, but Dinu is certainly a difference-maker and could be the key to helping Romania avoid relegation to Division B.
