USA ease out France as they ink another major record

USA had to raise their game to a new level to defy France an upset win as they reached the Semi-Finals with a hard fought 70-65 win. It was a major scare, but one they navigated after a nervy ending to the game.

Once again Saniyah Hall was the main architect and showed out with a majestic 26 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Sienna Betts also got it done as usual and added 14 points and 11 rebounds, with Nell Angloma leading for France and contributing 20 points and 6 boards.

Spain sail past derby rivals Portugal into Semis

Portugal had dreamed of writing another chapter in their Cinderella story by making the Semi-Finals in their debut edition. But that dream was shattered by neighbors Spain after a late surge handed them a 68-58 win.

Despite Clara Silva adding another 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to her eye-catching tournament collection, Spain had too much depth. Carla Osma Cruz was always a factor and had 12 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Somto Okafor top-scored with 13 points and Ines Sotelo had a double-double of 11 points and 10 boards.

Deas delivers in crunch time to hand Gems thrilling OT success

A late intervention from Bonnie Deas was decisive as Australia squeezed out a nerve-shredding 82-76 overtime win against Hungary. Having endured a torrid shooting night missing 13 of 14 from the field, she came up big down the stretch with a huge three that effectively sent her team into the Semi-Finals.

However, it wasn't only about Deas who finished with 17 points, 6 boards, 4 assists and 2 steals, since there were other key contributors. Sitaya Fagan enhanced her burgeoning reputation with a smart 9 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 blocks. Dora Toman and Eszter Rakai scored 18 and 16 points respectively in defeat.
