COLORADO SPRINGS (USA) - Holders USA will head into this year's edition of the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup with a new face on the sidelines as Teri Moren picks up the coaching reins.

The Indiana University head coach takes on responsibility for trying to continue her nation's dominance of the famous event, assisted by Niele Ivey of the University of Notre Dame and Jose Fernandez of the University of South Florida.

The defending champions are gunning for a fourth straight crown and what would be a stunning 11th title in the competition since its inception back in 1985. The trio already have a proven track record of working successfully together, having taken USA to gold at the FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup in Bucaramanga, Colombia last year.

Moren also brings experience of the 2023 edition of the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup when she was an Assistant Coach. She said: "It is an honor to be leading the 2025 USA Basketball Women’s U19 National Team along with Coach Ivey and Coach Fernandez.

"I am grateful to represent our country on the international stage and look forward to the opportunity to once again pursue a gold medal for our nation."

Moren recently completed her 11th season Hoosiers and is Indiana's all-time winningest coach, having also led them to seven NCAA Tournament appearances, three Sweet 16’s and an Elite Eight appearance along with ten consecutive 20-win seasons. She is also a two-time Big Ten Coach of the Year (2016, 2023) and was named the 2023 Associated Press National Coach of the Year. Ivey has coached for five seasons at Notre Dame and accumulated a 117-38 record with the Fighting Irish, while leading the team to four consecutive Sweet 16 appearances. During the 2024-25 season, Notre Dame went 28-6 and earned a share of the ACC regular season title for the second time in three years. The 2023 ACC Coach of the Year, Ivey previously served as an assistant coach with the Memphis Grizzlies for the 2019-20 season. Meanwhile Fernandez has written an eye-catching 25-year head coaching career at South Florida with multiple accolades. He is the program’s all-time winningest coach, a two-time American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year (2018, 2021) and has led the Bulls to 10 NCAA Tournament appearances.
