BRNO (Czechia) - Julia Preis came up with a monster defensive performance for Brazil as she equaled the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup blocks record by swatting 8 shots in her team's opening day clash with France.
While it was not enough to prevent her side from falling to an 83-47 loss, it cemented her place in history, with the last haul of 8 blocks coming a decade ago when Korea's superstar JiSu Park accomplished the feat.
Prior to this, it was Bowen Zhang of China who took the honor of being the first U19 baller to reject that number of shots in the competition way back in 2007.
