LAUSANNE (Switzerland) - Tyler Kropp is making history for Argentina at the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2025.
The star scorer poured in 24 points to lead Argentina to a 75-66 victory over Mali - and wrote his name into the tournament’s record books for his national team in the process.
Kropp became just the second Argentina player ever to score at least 20 points in each Group Phase game of a U19 World Cup.
23 points, 10-15 shooting against Serbia
22 points, 8-16 shooting against New Zealand
24 points, 10-15 shooting against Mali
The only other player to do so? Hector Campana back in 1983, when he exploded for 48, 27 and 52 points in three straight outings against Canada, Yugoslavia, and the Dominican Republic.
When told about matching Camapana, Kropp said: “Really? That’s an honor. I don’t really think about that when I play. Obviously that’s amazing, that’s sweet, but I am more focused on winning.”
Kropp's group stage campaign included 22 points against New Zealand, 23 against Serbia, and now 24 against Mali - proving himself to be one of the tournament’s most consistent offensive weapons.
The youngster is playing his third summer for Argentina. After playing in the FIBA U16 AmeriCup 2023, he competed at the FIBA U18 AmeriCup 2024 and FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2024.
I love playing for Argentina. These are my brothers
“I love playing for Argentina. it’s so much fun. These are my brothers. I am so grateful I have this opportunity to play for this team.”
Argentina fans will be hoping Kropp’s historic scoring run continues into the Final Phase.
