LAUSANNE (Switzerland) - Comebacks are always a thrilling part of basketball and the hoops gods gave the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2025 one heck of a rally as Canada put together a 38-point swing in beating Slovenia.
Canada trailed by 17 points in the second quarter at the 3:49 minute mark but ended up beating the Europeans 82-63 to improve to 2-0 in Group B. It took them 9 minutes and 41 seconds of game time to erase the Slovenian lead when they tied the game up at 50-50 in the third quarter at the 4:08 mark.
Jordan Charles led the way for Canada with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, Spencer Ahrens scored 16 points and Onyx Nnani added 10 points and 11 rebounds.
"In the first half, we came out really slow and we picked it up in the second half. We pushed the pace and did what we do and that changed our energy," said Charles. "It says a lot about us because they have been playing a long time together."
After an off-day, Canada will finish group play against Germany. Slovenia fell to 0-2 and will close Group B action against China.
