The FIBA U18 AmeriCup 2026 will be played under a new competition format approved by the FIBA Americas Board during its Mid-Term Congress held in October 2025. The format is as follows:

    • Each team will play one game against every opponent in its group

    • The first-place team in each group will advance directly to the Semi-finals

    • The last-place teams in each group will play for positions five through eight

    • The teams finishing second in their groups will face the teams finishing third in the opposite group (2B vs. 3A and 2A vs. 3B) in the Quarter-finals. The winners of the Quarter-finals will advance to the Semi-finals to face the first-place teams from each group, while the losers will play the last-place teams for positions five through 8

The top four teams at the FIBA U18 AmeriCup will qualify for the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2027.
