The FIBA U18 AmeriCup 2026 will be played under a new competition format approved by the FIBA Americas Board during its Mid-Term Congress held in October 2025. The format is as follows:
Each team will play one game against every opponent in its group
The first-place team in each group will advance directly to the Semi-finals
The last-place teams in each group will play for positions five through eight
The teams finishing second in their groups will face the teams finishing third in the opposite group (2B vs. 3A and 2A vs. 3B) in the Quarter-finals. The winners of the Quarter-finals will advance to the Semi-finals to face the first-place teams from each group, while the losers will play the last-place teams for positions five through 8
The top four teams at the FIBA U18 AmeriCup will qualify for the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2027.
