BRNO (Czechia) - USA extended their reign as FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup champions after taking down Spain 82-73 in a sensational Final in Brno to wrap up a fourth consecutive title and their seventh in eight editions.
The crowd at the Starez Arena Vodova watched as USA and Spain played out an all-time classic. Micah Ojo led the winning side with 20 points, with Isabel Hernandez posting an incredible performance in defeat with 28 points, 8 steals, 4 rebounds and 4 assists.
Spain had already matched their best-ever finish in the competition by reaching the Final as they claimed their fourth silver medal.
Ivanna Wilson Manyacka crowned TISSOT MVP
USA standout Ivanna Wilson Manyacka landed the TISSOT MVP award and was presented with the honor by USA three-time Olympic gold medalist and FIBA Hall of Famer, Dawn Staley.
The presentation took place on the 50th anniversary of the first-ever Women's Olympic Basketball Tournament.
Also collecting her second FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup title, she averaged 12.9 points, shooting 52.9 percent from the floor - as well as recording 6.0 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 1.7 assists per game.
Wilson Manyacka was joined on the All-Star Five by Isabel Hernandez of Spain, Madison Ryan of Australia, Frances Vollett of Canada and Japan's Miya Takeuchi.
Australia occupied the last step on the podium after easing out Canada 64-57 in the Third Place Game. The bronze medal adds to Australia's title success in 2016 and Third Place finish in 2018.
