VALLETTA (Malta) - Hosts Malta overcame an early Albania fightback to pull away in the second half and secure the FIBA U16 Women's EuroBasket 2026, Division C title with a convincing 76-51 victory.
Malta raced into a 10-1 lead before Albania recovered to erase the deficit and briefly move in front during the second quarter. The hosts responded through Samira Deguara, whose late three-pointer helped Malta regain momentum before halftime.
Malta took complete control after the break, gradually extending their advantage before pulling away in the fourth quarter to celebrate the title in front of their home fans.
Samira Deguara starred with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 steals to lead the champions. Helena Byberi finished with 20 points and 9 rebounds for Albania, while Antea Filopati added 13 points and 3 assists in defeat.
Georgia earned the bronze medal with a convincing 73-49 victory over Armenia. Georgia gradually pulled away throughout the contest before cruising to a comfortable victory. Mariami Tsertsvadze starred with 23 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals, while Lizi Jabua added 14 points.
Earlier today, Kosovo finished fifth after a dominant 74-35 win over Moldova. Moldova and Gibraltar completed the final standings in sixth and seventh place, respectively.
