    MVP Abdella headlines the All-Star Team for the 2025 U16 Women's AfroBasket

    Fatma Abdella rose to the occasion when Egypt needed her most. The country finished the tournament as the only undefeated team, with a record of 6-0.

    KIGALI (Rwanda) - Consistent performances earned Fatma Abdella the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award at the 2025 FIBA U16 Women's AfroBasket tournament.

    The Egyptian guard finished with a team-high efficiency rating of 13.5.

    The 15-year-old averaged 6.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.5 steals and 5 assists, helping Egypt to lift their first ever tournament trophy.

    On Sunday, Egypt defeated Côte d'Ivoire 66–54 to become the first country to win the trophy since Mali won the last eight editions of the event.

    Fatma Abdella (11 - Egypt), Shanice Mbaha (6 - Cameroon), Jane Diomande (9 - Cote d'Ivoire), Amin Zeina (34 - Egypt), Emmanuela William (15 - Cote d'Ivoire).

    Abdella was the standout player in the All-Tournament team, which also included her teammate Zeina Amin, the Ivorian duo of Jane Diomande and Emmanuela William, and Cameroon's Shanice Mbaha.

    The Fair Play award went to Tanzania, Emmanuela William was named the top rebounder of the Championship and Glory Ngowo of Tanzania won the award for the best three-point shooter of the tournament. Jane Diomande won the award for the tournament's top scorer.
