Latvia’s Benjamin Berrouet was unstoppable close to the basket, as he led Latvia to the Semi-Finals with a 92-80 triumph over Greece. The tournament’s second leading scorer poured in 25 points on 9-for-13 from the field, including going 60 percent from two-point range, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks in a scintillating performance.
Berrouet’s scoring exploits came second to his teammate Markuss Jahovics, who found his range, going 4-for-8 from three-point land for a game-high 29 points, along with 4 assists and 2 steals in Latvia’s win over Greece.
There was finally something for the holders Serbia to smile about, as they showed tremendous grit to edge Slovenia 95-91 after a period of overtime in their Classification Game for 9-16. Luka Panic was the star, as he had 28 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds in the win.
France prevailed rather comfortably in their tricky Quarter-Final clash with the unbeaten hosts Romania, winning 108-69. Talented power forward Messie-Guethan-Iwani stood out with a superb showing for the French, where he had 18 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals in just 23 minutes on the court.
Poland hung around with Spain in their Quarter-Final matchup until the fourth quarter, when they were simply unable to execute, allowing Spain to outscore the Poles 27-15 en route to an 86-74 win. Despite bowing out at the last eight, Alan Chojnacki shot a solid 60 percent from the floor to lead Poland with 25 points, along with 8 rebounds and 2 assists. (28)
