Bosnia and Herzegovina edge Great Britain in OT
In a game featuring 18 lead changes, Bosnia and Herzegovina eventually came out victorious 83-73 over Great Britain in a pulsating Quarter-Final that needed overtime to settle it.
With the game nicely poised at 48-47 in the Bosnians favor, it was a matter of who would hold their nerve when it mattered. Neither team budged in a cagey fourth period, which headed to the extra period. There, Bosnia and Herzegovina took the lead for good three minutes in, with GB unable to execute down the stretch.
Pavle Koprivica and Alem Elezovic combined for 50 points, with Elezovic leading the way with 28 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 steals. Koprivica added 22 points and 11 boards for the victors. Nathan Muleba led GB with 26 points and 15 rebounds.
Iceland go hot from three-point land
Iceland punched their ticket to the Semi-Finals as they hit 15 three-pointers to beat Montenegro 91-69.
After storming to a 21-11 lead, Iceland were pegged back going into the break. However, a 50-32 second half settled matters, as the winners hit 15 three-pointers, while Montenegro went a subpar 2-for-16 from beyond the arc.
Atli Haraldsson led Iceland, going 7-for-8 from the field for 19 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks in what was clearly his best performance of the tournament. David Antonsson added 15. Ilija Radovic led all scorers in vain for Montenegro with 35 points.
Croatia ease to Semi-Finals with win over Netherlands
Croatia led from start to finish as they coasted to the last four with an 80-51 triumph over the Netherlands.
The Croatians took an early double-digit lead in the first quarter and maintained it, with the lead peaking at 30 points towards the end, and the Dutch getting no closer than 12 points from the latter stages of the first quarter to the final buzzer.
Luka Leni Ukic dazzled for the winners as he poured in 26 points and 6 assists to lead the way. Niksa Zlopasa added 13. For the Netherlands, James Stuffken paced them with 14 points on 6-for-8 shooting.
Estonia dominate to beat Sweden
Estonia proved too strong for Sweden, advancing to the Semi-Finals with an 86-70 win.
Like Croatia before them, the Estonians took a double-digit lead within the first minute of the second quarter and never looked back, with their Swedish counterparts cutting the deficit to as little as 53-43 four minutes into the third period but going no closer.
Bert Martin amassed 21 points on 8-for-13 shooting to lead Estonia. Valdemar Sawstrom led Sweden with 17 points.
