    James Russell had a big night in the Final for Luxembourg

    Luxembourg downed Andorra to claim the trophy at the FIBA U16 EuroBasket 2025, Division C.

    SHKODER (Albania) - Luxembourg claimed the championship of the FIBA U16 EuroBasket 2025, Division C after defeating Andorra 68-55 in the Final.

    James Russell scored 22 points to lead the way while Abram Macalou had 18 points and 16 rebounds and Marvin Delgado collected 12 points, 15 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners.

    Luxembourg won the Division C event for the third time following 2006 and 2019 and now have right for promotion to Division B, from which Luxembourg were relegated last summer.

    Andorra got 12 points from Pol Vilana but they were not enough. The country was hoping to win the Division C for the record fifth time. They remain even with Cyprus as four-time champs.

    The game was still close until Luxembourg mounted a 12-1 run to lead 42-32 midway through the third quarter. Luxembourg managed to push the margin to 55-42 in the final frame and Andorra could not get closer than nine points the rest of the way.

    Earlier in the day, Armenia rolled past hosts Albania 118-78 to grab third place in the event. Armenia took control of the game with a 32-8 second quarter. Edgar Agabekyan drained 7 three-pointers in scoring 36 points to go with 9 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals and 4 blocks for an effiency of 45 for the winners.

    Azerbaijan finished fifth with a 4-0 record in the Classification 5-9 Group followed by Moldova, San Marino, Malta and Gibraltar.
