MADRID (Spain) - After nearly two decades shaping one of basketball's greatest dynasties, Sergio Scariolo is preparing to take his final bow.
FIBA EuroBasket 2025 will mark the end of his storied run as head coach of the Spanish national team - and he's hoping to go out the way he came in: competing at the highest level, with everything on the line.
We want to stand our ground and fight until the end.
"I'm really excited for this EuroBasket. It'll be my last with the team in this second stint," the 64-year-old Italian coach confirmed.
Scariolo has been the steady hand behind Spain's golden era, guiding the team to four EuroBasket titles and a FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 triumph in China.
But for him, this final tournament isn't just about results - it's about identity, effort, and passing the torch.
"We're under no pressure regarding results, but this team has a strong competitive spirit. We want to stand our ground and fight until the end," he said.
Whether Spain reaches the podium or not, Scariolo's legacy is already secure. But do they have another deep run in them?
