RIGA (Latvia) - From their first game in Tampere against Montenegro to the thrilling Final against Türkiye, Germany's FIBA EuroBasket 2025 mission was simple.

And throughout the competition, Germany's focus and mentality never changed. Once the final buzzer sounded, the team embraced as one, they celebrated as one. Their goal was complete - they became EuroBasket champions for the second time.

The win had its stumbling block to start, with the loss of head coach Alex Mumbru to an ilness. However, assistant coach Alan Ibrahimagic took over the reins and through his guidance, led Germany to glory.

"First off, shoutout to Alan. Alex (Mumbru) is the head coach, but what Alan did taking over, coaching us, it was incredible," said Dennis Schroder.

Let's take a look at Germany's heroes who became just the fourth team in history to hold both the FIBA Basketball World Cup and now the EuroBasket crown in their possession.

    Dennis Schroder - MVP

    POINT GUARD

    Birth Date: Sep 15, 1993 (32 years old) Height: 188 cm / 6'2" Team: Sacramento Kings (USA) Tournament stats: 20.3PPG, 7.2APG, 3.4RPG

Schroder led from the front and formed an unstoppable duo with Franz Wagner. Along with averaging 20.3 points and 7.2 assists a game, the veteran stepped up in the big moments. Posting double-doubles in both the Semi-Final and Final, his clutch fourth quarter showing against Türkiye, turned out to be Schroder's lasting memory of a EuroBasket where he won TISSOT MVP honors.

    Franz Wagner

    SMALL FORWARD

Birth Date: Aug 27, 2001 (24 years old) Height: 208 cm / 6'10" Team: Orlando Magic (USA)

    Tournament stats: 20.8PPG, 5.9RPG, 3.4APG

Wagner led Germany in scoring in the tournament with his all-around showing of 24 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals in the Group B game against Lithuania his highlight. He shot 53 percent from the floor for 18 points in the Final against Türkiye and emerged as the crown jewel in this victorious German squad.

    Isaac Bonga

    SMALL FORWARD

Birth Date: Nov 8, 1999 ( 25 years old) Height: 203 cm / 6'7" Team: KK Partizan (SRB)

    Tournament stats: 9.9PPG, 4.3RPG, 2.1APG, 1.4SPG

The defensive lynchpin for the German side throughout the tournament. Bonga earned his title of EuroBasket's Best Defensive Player award with his patience, quick hands and giving opposing star players nightmares. His 20 points, on 4-for-4 from three-point range, along with 5 rebounds in the Final, showcased his offensive prowess as well for TCL Player of the Game honors.

    Andreas Obst

    SHOOTING GUARD

Birth Date: Jul 13, 1996 ( 29 years old) Height: 191 cm / 6'3" Team: FC Bayern Munich (GER)

    Tournament stats: 9.0PPG, 1.9RPG, 46.2% 3PT

Germany's three-point marksman. Obst named Stephen Curry as his three-point inspiration, and he showed that in the early stages of the tournament by hitting 12 triples in his first three games. As EuroBasket wound down though, the 29 year old showed a cool veteran head to contribute in other areas making him an invaluable member of the team.

    Daniel Theis

    POWER FORWARD

Birth Date: Apr 4, 1992 ( 33 years old) Height: 203 cm / 6'7" Team: AS Monaco (FRA)

    Tournament stats: 10.2PPG, 6.4RPG, 69.1%FG

A EuroBasket title was no more than Germany deserved, especially for Theis, who stepped up and at times, was the third part of the German offensive onslaught throughout the tournament. He averaged a jaw-dropping 69 percent form the field, and Theis' perfect game against Lithuania of 9-for-9 from the floor and 2-for-2 from the line for 23 points stood out. Also hit a big three late in the Final.

    Tristan Da Silva

    SMALL FORWARD

Birth Date: May 15, 2001 ( 24 years old) Height: 203 cm / 6'7" Team: Orlando Magic (USA)

    Tournament stats: 10.4PPG, 3.6RPG, 2.8RPG

Tristan Da Silva's 25 points in their Group B win over Great Britain was just the performance that he needed at the EuroBasket. From there, he scored in double figures for all of Germany's remaining wins apart from the Quarter-Final success against Slovenia. A key figure offensively when given the chance.

    Maodo Lo

    POINT GUARD

Birth Date: Dec 31, 1992 ( 32 years old) Height: 191 cm / 6'3" Team: Zalgiris Kaunas (LTU)

    Tournament stats: 7.9PPG, 2.1RPG, 3.1APG

Lo played the role of backup point guard brilliantly, as he stepped in mainly when Schroder went to the bench. The Zalgiris veteran rarely put a foot wrong and was a calm head when things went against them. Lo was another of the German standouts who enjoyed a perfect game at EuroBasket, scoring 13 points, going 5-for-5 against Sweden, including three triples.

    Johannes Thiemann

    POWER FORWARD

Birth Date: Feb 9, 1994 ( 31 years old) Height: 205 cm / 6'8" Team: Gunma Crane Thunders (JPN)

    Tournament stats: 6.4PPG, 3.7RPG, 67.7% FG

Another of Germany's super bench contributors, Thiemann stepped in when the starting five were in trouble and steadied the ship masterfully. Did the intangibles that every coach loves to see and gave Germany invaluable size and strength inside when it mattered at both ends of the floor.

    Justus Hollatz

    POINT GUARD

Birth Date: Apr 21, 2001 ( 24 years old) Height: 195 cm / 6'4" Team: FC Bayern Munich (GER)

    Tournament stats: 2.3PPG, 1.6RPG, 53.3% FG

The 24-year-old point guard continues to thrive off being on the same team as Schroder and Lo and after bronze in 2022, captured the gold in Riga. The longer he continues to be selected for the national team, the more impact he will have. Missed a game late in the tournament through injury, but returned for the Final.

    Oscar Da Silva

    POWER FORWARD

Birth Date: Sep 21, 1998 (27 years old) Height: 205 cm / 6'8" Team: FC Bayern Munich (GER)

    Tournament stats: 8.7 MPG, 3.2PPG, 73.3% FG

Played valuable minutes when needed and someone that Dennis Schroder said was one of the glue members of the team. Always made an impact when he came on to the floor and another forward who helped out when the starting five were in foul trouble. And, he got to celebrate this triumph playing alongside his brother.

    Leon Kratzer

    CENTER

Birth Date: Feb 4, 1997 (31 years old) Height: 212 cm / 6'11" Team: FC Bayern Munich (GER)

It was a first major tournament for Kratzer, and valuable learning experience. The center played in all five of Germany's Group B games in Tampere with his sole field goal coming in the rout of Great Britain. He also pulled down 4 rebounds in that same game.

    Johannes Voigtmann

    CENTER

Birth Date: Sep 30, 1992 (33 years old) Height: 211 cm / 6'11" Team: FC Bayern Munich (GER)

It was a fourth EuroBasket appearance for one of Germany's leaders, but it would end prematurely through injury after just two games. Voigtmann returned to be with the team in Riga and was part of the trophy celebrations as one of nine players completing the World Cup-EuroBasket double.
