Turning Point
Great Britain matched Germany in the early stages of the first quarter, even leading in spurts. But a fast break slam from Tristan Da Silva with 2:42 remaining ignited the Germans into an eventual 32-19 lead heading into the second.
It was also the highlight play of an 18-1 run that spanned the end of the first and beginning of the second period. From there, there was no way back for the Brits, with them being on the wrong end of a 30-9 third quarter, solidifying that.
TCL Player of the Game
Franz Wagner went 6-for-9 from the floor as he enjoyed a double-double of 18 points and 10 assists in just 18 minutes of play.
Tristan Da Silva paced the winners with 25 points, while Myles Hesson led GB with 11.
Stats Don't Lie
Germany's patient approach and solid shot selection were key to the win over Great Britain, as they shot 61 percent by the break. Conversely, Great Britain relied too heavily on three-point shooting, with 20 of their 42 total field goal attempts coming from long range by halftime. Unfortunately for them, they only went 26 percent from the field.
Bottom Line
Germany's final game against Finland will determine who will finish as the winner of Group B, while Great Britain will face Montenegro in their final game - hoping that a first win could still see them go through.
They Said
"It was a good game, it's what we intended. We just go into the game focused, just work on our habits, and execute our game plan. In the beginning, we had some issues with the offensive rebounds with Great Britain, but from the second quarter, we took control, and it was a very grown man performance," - Alan Ibrahimagic, Germany assistant coach.
"It was a good team effort. It's a reason to be happy when you get contributions from so many different guys and guys that are not your regulars. But great team effort," - Oscar Da Silva, Germany.
"They played a helluva game today, it's a bit embarrassing for us, but looking forward the only thing we can do is look at ourselves and try to get on that level one day hopefully," - Myles Hesson, Great Britain.
"I'm exceptionally frustrated and hurt. Being realistic, we have to appreciate that we're playing against the world champions, and it was going to be a mammoth task for any team to beat them, but the way in which the performance panned out was not one anyone in our group probably envisaged or anyone in our group is pleased with," - Marc Steutel, Great Britain head coach.
