VILNIUS (Lithuania) - One of Europe's basketball powerhouses and three time FIBA EuroBasket champions Lithuania will have a chance to chase their fourth title after clinching their 14th straight berth.
Lithuania have had another two appearances in the 1930s, making the 2025 edition their 16th time to reach the main draw of the biggest European tournament.
Having not medalled since 2015, Lithuania will be keen to set that record straight this summer. Despite missing key players, including Domantas Sabonis, they still take an impressive lineup to Tampere, with Denver Nuggets big man Jonas Valanciunas leading the way, having averaged a double-double in the last two editions.

Star Player
Jonas Valanciunas remains the cornerstone of Lithuania's national team heading into FIBA EuroBasket 2025. Having made his competition debut in 2011, this will be his sixth EuroBasket tournament and possibly the last chance to make a mark on the European stage after two runner-up finishes in 2013 and 2015.
The 33 year old Denver Nuggets center will be as important as ever, with fellow big man Domantas Sabonis not available for the national team this summer. A powerful presence in the paint, the veteran center brings physicality, leadership, and experience to a squad that is well balanced but does not have an abundance of options offensively.
He averaged 14.8 points and 8.8 rebounds in his last campaign at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, where Lithuania finished fifth, and coach Rimas Kurtinaitis will need more of the same if they are to end their decade-long medal drought.
History
Lithuania won their first 12 games in FIBA EuroBasket history, picking up two straight gold medals back in 1937 and 1939. Their first appearance back as an independent nation was in 1995, when they finished as runners-up. They claimed their third triumph in 2003, and have followed it up with three other podium place finishes since.
Champions: 1937, 1939, 2003 Runners-up: 1995, 2013, 2015 Third Place: 2007
