GEORGETOWN (Guyana) – The Virgin Islands and Bahamas were the winners on Day 3 of the FIBA CBC Women’s Championship 2025, held at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in Georgetown, Guyana. The Virgin Islanders remain unbeaten at 2–0 after taking down Suriname, while the Bahamians improved to 2–1 with a victory over Jamaica. Host nation Guyana had the day off. With two game days left, both teams occupy the top spots in a tournament that awards three berths to the FIBA Women’s Centrobasket Championship 2026. Here are the highlights from Day 3:
Suriname 33 – 84 Virgin Islands
Five VI players (2–0) finished in double figures. For the second night in a row, Taylor Jones led the way with 18 points, including three triples. J-Naya Ephraim followed with 14, Natalie Kleeman-Day added 13, and Anisha George and Imani Tate chipped in 11 and 10, respectively.
The Virgin Islands dominated the paint with 57 total rebounds, 21 of them on the offensive glass. All 12 players who saw the floor grabbed at least two boards. Kleeman-Day and Keshara Romain led the category with nine each. For Suriname (0–3), Chiniqua Pengel contributed 12 points along with four rebounds and four steals.
Jamaica 56 – 88 Bahamas
Valerie Nesbitt recorded the tournament’s first triple-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists. She capped off her standout performance with six steals in 35 minutes. Teammates Valicia Demeritte and Lashann Higgs also impressed, scoring 25 and 23 points, respectively. The trio accounted for 77 percent of The Bahamas’ offense (2–1).
