GEORGETOWN (Guyana) – The Virgin Islands remained unbeaten through three outings at the FIBA CBC Women’s Championship 2025 after defeating Jamaica on Saturday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in Georgetown, Guyana. With the win, the Virgin Islanders secured a berth to next year’s Centrobasket Women’s Championship and will look to secure the gold medal on Sunday. Meanwhile, Guyana topped Suriname to collect its second victory of the competition. With that result, the final two spots for the 2026 Centrobasket will be decided on Sunday among Guyana, Bahamas and Jamaica. Below are the highlights from Day 4 of action:
Virgin Islands 93 – 43 Jamaica
J-Naya Ephraim knocked down four three-pointers and finished with 20 points to keep the Virgin Islands perfect at 3-0. The point guard also grabbed 6 rebounds and came away with 4 steals. Imani Tate added 16 points and 7 boards, while Anisha George contributed 16 points and 6 rebounds on loose-ball recoveries.
The Virgin Islands racked up 18 steals, with eight different players recording at least one. Offensively, they capitalized with 35 points off Jamaica’s 33 turnovers. Jamaica (1-2) was led by Tiffany Reynolds, who posted 17 points and 4 rebounds.
Guyana 106 – 42 Suriname
Joy Brown flirted with a quadruple-double after posting 19 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists and 9 steals. Two other Guyanese players (2-1) also registered double-doubles. Anaya Mc David tallied 24 points and 12 rebounds, while Ruth Adams added 19 points and 13 boards, finishing just two assists shy of a triple-double with 8 dimes.
The game’s leading scorer was Amisha Ramlall, who hit four triples and ended with 25 points. Suriname (0-4) wrapped up the tournament winless through four games. Chiniqua Pengel led the team with 10 points. The championship will come to a close on Sunday with the following matchups: Bahamas vs. Virgin Islands – 4:30 p.m. (Local time) Jamaica vs. Guyana – 8:30 p.m.
