MIAMI (United States) – USA has announced their 12-player roster for Window 3 of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Americas Qualifiers, highlighted by Mike James, one of the most prominent figures in European basketball over the past decade, and center Jay Huff, who is coming off a strong NBA season with the Indiana Pacers. The veteran point guard has been one of the most dominant offensive players in Europe in recent years, establishing himself through his scoring ability, leadership and playmaking. Last season with AS Monaco of France, he averaged 16.6 points and 4.8 assists per game.
Huff, meanwhile, is coming off a strong season in the NBA. He appeared in all 82 games and ranked third in the NBA in blocks per game, averaging 1.9. He is also familiar with the USA Basketball program, having previously represented the national team during the qualifiers for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023. The roster also includes Pedro Bradshaw, Jacob Gilyard, Kevon Harris, Dewan Hernandez, Elijah Pemberton, Orlando Robinson, Matt Ryan, Terry Taylor, Jarrod Uthoff and Gabe York. Taylor, Bradshaw, Hernandez, Pemberton and Ryan have previous experience with the national team in qualifying competitions, while Gilyard, Harris, Robinson, Uthoff and York are set to make their debuts. During Window 3, USA will face the Dominican Republic on July 3 before traveling to Mexico three days later. Led by head coach Stephen Silas, USA enters Window 3 with a 3-1 record in Group A, tied for first place with the Dominican Republic. Both teams have already secured qualification to the Second Round of the Qualifiers, although the Dominicans won the most recent meeting between the two sides, 87-79, in February.
