    With the Africa World Cup qualifiers set to resume at the end of the month, we take a closer look at the important numbers.

    ABIDJAN (Cote d'Ivoire) - Over the years, the FIBA Basketball World Cup African Qualifiers have seen teams and individuals achieve amazing results and secure victories.

    In this article, FIBA.basketball takes a closer look at the teams and players whose statistical performances directly contributed to winning results.

    Most free throws made by a player (14)

    Souleyman Boum Jr. was a star player for Guinea in their famous World Cup qualifier win over Tunisia last November.

    Boum Jr. finished the game with 22 points. Interestingly, most of his points came from the free-throw line, where he scored 14 out of 15 attempts (93.3%).

    Most three-points made by a player (7)

    When it comes to shooting from behind the arc, the World Cup African Qualifiers have seen countless sharpshooters rise to the occasion when it mattered most.

    Three players — Kenneth Gasana (Rwanda), Shannon Evans (Guinea) and Sire Dieng (Côte d'Ivoire) — hold the record for the most three-pointers made in the World Cup African Qualifiers, with seven each.

    Most steals by a team (21)

    Although Angola did not appear particularly formidable, especially in the first round of the 2023 World Cup African Qualifiers, they knew how to deliver when necessary.

    In their 78–48 win over the Central African Republic, Angola broke the record for most steals in a single game with 21, five of which were made by the electric point guard Childe Dundao — the 2025 AfroBasket champion and tournament MVP — in the November 2021 game.

    Most turnovers in a game (35)

    In the final window of the 2023 World Cup African Qualifiers, Nigeria's D'Tigers narrowly beat Guinea 62–59.

    Although it was a close game, Guinea's 35 turnovers — a record — handed Nigeria the victory.

    Most free throws made by a team (27)

    In a 2019 World Cup African Qualifiers encounter against Uganda in 2018, Rwanda went to the free-throw line 36 times and made 27 of them (75%), leading to a 92-79 win over the Silverbacks.

    The now-retired Kenny Gasana was 11/14 (78.6%) from the free-throw line.

    Most assists by a team (33)

    Cameroon outclassed Guinea in the opening window of the 2019 World Cup African Qualifiers in Yaounde.

    Cameroon recorded a famous 116–78 blowout win over Guinea in the 2019 World Cup African Qualifiers.

    While the 38-point victory was significant for Cameroon, another notable achievement was recording 33 assists in the November 2017 fixture.

    Most blocked shots by a team (9)

    Morocco holds the record for the most blocked shots in a World Cup African Qualifiers.

    They achieved this remarkable feat in a 69–63 loss to Chad on 16 September 2018 in Radès, Tunisia.

    Highest Efficiency Rating by a team (155)

    Cameroon set a new World Cup African Qualifiers efficiency record, achieving an impressive 155 rating in their 116–78 victory on 25 November 2017 in the capital city of Yaoundé.
