DOUALA (Cameroon) - The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon sent a message out on Thursday by beating Cape Verde, a team they lost to in the first round of Group A in November.
Cameroon's 82-72 win over Cape Verde sees them improve their record to 3-1 as they advance to the 12-team second round of the qualifiers.
Playing in the coastal city of the Douala for the first time, Cameroon controlled the proceedings right after Cape Verde scored the opened the score with two free-throws from Will Tavares.
When Fabien Ateba - who else? - sank a three-pointer to give Cameron a 3-2 lead, they never trailed again and went on to lead by as many 19 points.
At a glance, this was a one-side affair that translated Cameroon's intention in the competition. They remain atop of their group alongside South Sudan with a 3-1 win-loss mark each.
Cape Verde, meanwhile, dropped to 2-2.
