LUANDA (Angola) - Jeremiah Hill, a key player for Cameroon, may be out for the rest of the 2025 AfroBasket tournament.
He suffered an injury during Cameroon's 99-90 loss to Nigeria on Sunday, August 17.
Forty-eight hours later, however, he was seen on the sidelines cheering on his teammates as Cameroon eliminated the Democratic Republic of the Congo, 77–68, in the Classification Round for the quarterfinals.
Another notable Cameroonian player absent due to injury was Jordan Bayehe, who sat out the team's win over DR Congo.
When asked about Hill's injury, Cameroon's head coach, Alfred Aboya, suggested that Hill might be out of the tournament.
"Three players—Jeremiah Hill, Jordan Bayehe, and Amadou Seni—did not play for us today. It's not just about Jeremiah," Aboya said.
Then, the play caller added: "Obviously, Jeremiah is a big part of what we do. He has been sidelined by the injury he suffered in the last game against Nigeria. The initial diagnosis is that he will be out for two weeks."
Hill averaged 16.3 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists in the first three games of the 2025 AfroBasket tournament.
"We don't know what will happen between now and then, but he was one of our biggest supporters on the bench during Cameroon's win over DR Congo."
Cameroon will take on Egypt in one of Thursday's quarterfinal matchups.
