Sevgi Uzun - Fenerbahce to Galatasaray (2026)

Sevgi Uzun was crowned a EuroLeague Women champion with Fenerbahce and denied Galatasaray glory in the 2026 Final

The scale of this summer's surprise transfer can be measured by the fact that Ozun is not only the standout Turkish leader for the national team who will step out at the upcoming FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2026 in Berlin, but just a few months ago she was being crowned a EuroLeague Women champion with Fenerbahce.

That was also not only the second time that she has won the famous silverware with Fenerbahce, but it also came in a title game played against Galatasaray. Now, she will be wearing the colors of her new club in the 2026-27 season and, if there is a repeat of the title clash at the Final Six, she will be on the other side of the divide.

Allie Quigley - Fenerbahce to Galatasaray (2017)

Allie Quigley moved to Galatasaray and helped them win EuroCup Women

A fan favorite while she was spending time with the respective clubs, Quigley used her potent firepower and especially from downtown, to great effect. She started out fuelling Fenerbahce across two season from 2015 to 2017, averaging 15 points per game in both campaigns.

Opting to move to Galatasaray, it wasn't long before she started making a big impact there too, famously taking them to EuroCup Women glory in 2018. That was largely down to her phenomenal 37 points in the first-leg of the Finals that put her team on the road to victory and instantly wrote her name into the club's folklore.

Nevriye Yilmaz - Galatasaray to Fenerbahce (2011)

Turkish legend Nevriye Yilmaz was revered by all fans when she led her country to historic success

An absolute legend of Turkish basketball and also considered as one of the European greats of the modern era, Yilmaz was the centerpiece of a national team that made their first ever FIBA Women's EuroBasket Final in 2011, and then made their Olympic debut in 2012.

What was extraordinary about her decision to switch was that she had spent a season earlier in her career when a young pro with Galatasaray but then ended up eventually playing a lengthy eight EuroLeague Women campaigns with Fenerbahce. Returning to Galatasaray, she made history by winning the 2014 EuroLeague Women title.

Diana Taurasi - Fenerbahce to Galatasaray (2011)

One of the greatest players of all-time made the switch and it caused huge controversy at the time

Considered as the GOAT by many, there are few bigger names in the history of the global women's game than the legendary guard. A record-breaking six-time Olympic gold medalist as well as a six-time EuroLeague Women champion, she was at the peak of her powers, when crossing the divide.

It was a huge story that made international news and was shrouded in controversy, causing extra spice to the already bitter rivalry. After playing only a handful of games with Fenerbahce, she played 18 times for Galatasaray in the 2011-12 season.
