Strong start to Thais' home stand

BANGKOK (Thailand) - Hi-Tech Basketball Club hardly broke a sweat in dealing Adroit a 119-67 beatdown for their first win in the Basketball Champions League Asia-East (BCL Asia-East) 2025, Friday at the Nimibutr Stadium.

The reigning Basketball Thai League champions raced to a 15-3 start into the game before ending the first 10 minutes with a commanding 40-15 lead, setting up the rout that led to a night of league records.

Coach Kannawat Lertlaokul's charges tallied the most points scored in the first quarter, paving the way for the squad to produce the highest output in a half when they entered the break with a huge 75-41 lead.

And as the buzzer rang, Hi-Tech would finish with the most points by a team in a game, clearing the previous record by 14 more previously set by the New Taipei Kings in their 105-65 win against the same opponent.

"The first home game here was a relatively easy one, so the team was able to try out the rotations a bit, give the minutes to the other players to get them a feel for the game," said assistant Nontapob Vivattanapongpetch.

The impressive outing was big thanks to their balanced attack in which a total of five players finished in double figures, with Mike Singletary leading the way with a game-high 20 points on 8-of-10 field-goal shooting.

The trio of Max Williams, Moses Morgan, and Emmanuel Ejesu finished with 16 points apiece on a combined 66.3-percent shooting from the floor, while lead big man Chanatip Jakrawan chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds.

It was Williams himself who practically presided over their blazing start, producing 11 of his points in the opening period alone as he nearly outscored their Singaporean counterparts all by his lonesome.

"I think it was a good way to get started with the games here in Bangkok," said Williams. "I think it was a good way for us to gel with each other and get used to playing with each other before our next game."

All players scored at least 4 points in the dominant victory, which also saw the crew nail a total of 16 threes as they shot 55.6-percent from the floor overall, hugely behind their 34 assists - also a BCL Asia-East record.

With the first game of their four-game home stand in the books, Hi-Tech will now turn their attention to Mongolian side Ulaanbaatar Xac, whom they will lock horns with on Sunday, May 4, at 19:00 local time.

Sergii Pryimak, on the other hand, had 19 points and 8 rebounds to lead Adroit, who fell to their second loss in as many games. Justen Yue Jun Chiam and Oleksandr Kolchenko had 17 and 10, respectively.

The Singapore-NBL outfit will face the Broncos first on Saturday, May 3, also at 19:00.
