Broncos build wall in undefeated BCL Asia-East road trip

    Short Read

Undefeated and unbreakable, the Broncos are turning defense into dominance in BCL Asia - East 2025.

BANGKOK (Thailand) - The Broncos are proving that defense still wins games - and potentially championships.

After three straight away games to open their Basketball Champions League Asia (BCL Asia) - East 2025 campaign, the Broncos stand alone as the only undefeated team in their group. With wins in New Taipei City and back-to-back victories in Bangkok, they’ve not only showcased their grit but also laid down a blueprint for defensive dominance.

My focus is on the defense and that’s all that my guys need to focus on.

    Ariunbold Erdene

    Their numbers speak volumes.

The Broncos have allowed just 168 points across three games - an astonishing average of 56.0 points per game. No other team in the competition is giving up fewer than 70. Opponents are shooting a measly 34.6 percent from the field, trailing only the Taoyuan Pilots’ 34.5 percent mark. Their pressure defense is also turning into offense — the Broncos are generating 22.3 points per game off turnovers, the best in the competition.

Their 81-68 road win over the New Taipei Kings was impressive. Their 87-41 demolition of Adroit was dominant. But it was their 63-59 win against current window hosts Hitech that perhaps best reflected their identity - gritty, composed, and defensively sound.

Fans might be quick to recall Ian Miller's clutch shot in the final moments of the game, but it's hard to forget Azabayar Altangerel's block of Mike Singletary's late three-point attempt to keep the Bronco's lead intact.

"Our defense, again," said head coach Ariunbold Erdene following the nail-biter against Hitech. "Their offense is very, very good, very physical, and they’ve got big guys who work well. But our defense is working."

"This is a result of our preparation... we prepared really well. That’s why we can win. Especially, my focus is on the defense and that’s all that my guys need to focus on."

The early success isn’t being taken for granted. Erdene emphasized the responsibility that comes with a 3-0 start, particularly with the team now heading back to Mongolia for a stretch of home games that could define their tournament run.

“We are so happy for the 3-0 win, but we have a big responsibility to protect this record. That’s why we must try to do our best on our homecourt.”

And now, that homecourt awaits. Undefeated on the road, and statistically the toughest defense in BCL Asia - East, the Broncos return to Mongolia not just with momentum - but with a target on their backs and a chance to solidify themselves as title contenders.
