Media representatives wishing to cover any of the games taking place during window 1 of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 African Qualifiers in the venues or remotely, should apply online via the FIBA Media Portal.

Media accreditation for window 1 will open on Monday, 25 October (08:00 CET) and remain open until Tuesday 23 November (23:59 CET).

Media Activities & COVID-19 Protocol

Building on the expertise secured during FIBA Competitions throughout the global pandemic, the latest version of the FIBA Covid-19 protocol continues to set out the framework for their safe implementation.

Media accreditation will only be provided to individuals who comply with the local testing requirements (host country regulations). FIBA will not require PCR tests for fully or non-vaccinated individuals. These may however be required for travel and entry in the country.

All accredited media who are in contact with teams must comply with local COVID-19 protocols and:
• Maintain social distancing (1.5m)/avoid physical contact with Zone 1 individuals
• Wear a facemask /use hand-sanitizer frequently.


Mixed Zone interview opportunitiesInterview opportunities with a few selected players will be organized for all Rights-Holder and selected Non-Rights Holder media.
These interviews will be carried out in a pre-defined location around the court area or in an appropriate Mixed zone area.
• A limited number of accredited media will have access to the Mixed zone, according to the available space
• Social distancing of 1.5m must be respected between interview positions
• Microphones must be on a long boom pole/stick to maintain distances with the teams


Post-game Press Conferences
Press conferences will be organized in the venues. Only Rights-Holders and selected Non-Rights Holders will be entitled to attend in person.
Remote access to the post-game press conferences should be guaranteed (for ex. Via Zoom).


Access to Practice Sessions
Subject to FIBA confirmation a limited number of Rights-Holders and selected Non-Rights Holder will have the possibility to access the end (5 minutes) of practice sessions.
Arrangements should be made on-site with the Broadcast Operations Venue Manager and Media Officer and must comply to the protocol requirements.

Accreditation Decisions
The national federation hosting a game or group will be responsible for the delivery of the accreditation decisions for any home game.
