First timers Nigeria ready to roll

ABUJA (2016 FIBA U17 Women's World Championship) - Nigeria are just days away from their maiden appearance at the FIBA U17 Women's World Championship, having now confirmed their final roster for the landmark event.

With play-caller Adeka Daudu having initially cast his net far and wide with 21 initial candidates which was then trimmed to 14, Nigeria’s head coach has now made his final decision.

Nigeria 12-player roster for 2016 FIBA U17 Women's World Championship
Shakirat Abdulazeez Ene Blessing Adams Eloha Adazor Onome Akinbode
Adeola Badmos Irene Chukwudi Adaeze Ezeh Vanessa Oduah
Precious Ogbuta Ifunanya Okoro Agnes Paul Abiodun Yusuf

Sensational on the glass last year in Madagascar with a dazzling 13.5 boards per game, Ene Blessing Adams may now to move to being the team leader offensively too.

That's because Nigeria will be without their leading scorer from last year's FIBA Africa U16 Women's Championship in the shape of Rita Happy James, who had been expected to spearhead the challenge in Zaragoza.

Nigeria will take their first ever steps in the tournament in Group A when they will test themselves against Canada, Japan and Latvia.
