Cook Islands and Tahiti top field, Semifinals set

SAMOA (Polynesian Cup 2018) - The Semifinal cast of the Women's Polynesian Cup is set.

The Cook Islands claimed first seed after rampaging their way to the top with an average winning margin of 38.6 points.

The COK's will face American Samoa in the Semifinals, a win will guarantee a spot to the Pacific Games next year.

Keziah-Britanny Lewis has been stellar in the group phase leading the ladies in green in points with 17.7 per game.

American Samoa suffered a huge 27-92 setback to the Cook Islands in their group-phase match-up.

American Samoa has lost all of their games but the South Pacific Island's team is on the young side with an average age of 18 years old.

In the other Semifinal match-up, Host Samoa will battle Tahiti for the last ticket to the Finals.

If Tahiti wins they will be guaranteed a seat in the 8-nation event in the Pacific Games next year. A loss will pit them against either Cook Islands or American Samoa for the last ticket to the quadrennial event.

Tahiti has been leaning heavily on Oceane LeFranc with the center averaging a double-double (21.3 points and 10.7 rebounds).

In their group phase meeting, Tahiti outclassed Samoa 76-53.

Samoa will need Aufui Sau (14 ppg) and Cherish Manumaleuga (13.3 ppg) to step up their game to give the hosts a chance to advance.
