MEDIA ACCREDITATION

All local/national and international media representatives wishing to attend the FIBA Women’s Qualifying Tournament must apply directly via the FIBA Media Portal.  

The application period will open on Thursday 4th January

and close on Sunday 4th February 2024 (00:00 CET)

Only professional members of the media that have fully completed and submitted their accreditation request online within the deadline will be taken into consideration.

DECISIONS 

Media credentials will be awarded based on the professional history of the applying media at FIBA and basketball events, the relevance of the media outlet represented to the event and basketball in general, as well as space availability in the venues. 

FIBA is ultimately responsible for the delivery of the accreditation decisions and distribution of badges for the event.

VISA INFORMATION 

A visa is an official document that allows the bearer to legally enter a foreign country.  All members of the media that require a visa to enter the host country, are responsible to apply themselves in their diplomatic mission/embassy in their respective country of residence. 

TRAVELING TO SOPRON

BY PLANE 

The nearest international airport is Vienna (75 km).

BY TRAIN

The inland and international railway connections of the region are highly developed thanks to constant improvements by GYSEV PLC. Connected to Vienna by suburban trains every hour, departure from Wien Meidling. Travel takes 70 minutes.

BY CAR 

Road 84 in the direction of Lake Balaton and road M85 (with vignette) connecting Sopron with Győr and the villages in between. From Vienna, Austria on A2 until the Traiskirchen intersection, then on A3 until the Eisenstadt intersection, and on B16 to Sopron.

Vignettes for motorway travel are available for weekly, monthly or yearly periods, and can be purchased at petrol stations. The Vignette is compulsory for all vehicles.

 

LOCAL CURRENCY

The official currency in Hungary is Forint. Cash can be exchanged in banks and exchange offices. Numerous ATMs are available and purchases can be paid with either cash or credit cards, accepted by the shop. Most of the shops in Sopron accept the payments directly in Euro.

Hotels, restaurants and shops accept credit cards (Visa/MasterCard).

 

MISCELLANEOUS

The telephone code for Hungary is +36.

Hungary is in the Eastern European Time (EET) zone at GMT + l hours. Eastern European Summer Time (GMT + 2hrs) falls between the last Sunday of March and October respectively.

The electric network in Hungary operates on an alternating current network with a tension level of 220 V and frequency of 50 Hz.

Post offices are open from Monday to Friday from 8:00 until 19:00 and on Saturday from 8:00 until 13:00.

Bank offices are usually open from 8:00 - 15:30, Monday to Friday. On Saturday and Sunday are closed.
