APIA (FIBA U18 Oceania Championships 2016) - Samoa is hoping youth will sustain their FIBA U18 Oceania Championships campaign, with the majority of the country's men and women's rosters made up of 2000-born players.

Leading this young roster is 2014 FIBA U18 Oceania Championships alumni, Wayne Sio.

Sio is the only player on the Samoan men's roster to have previously played at a FIBA event. He will be looking to improve upon his respectable 5.7 points and 8 rebounds per game as a supporting member in 2014.

Sio and Samoa are aiming to better their 6^th place finish from two years ago.

While still very young, the Samoan women's roster boasts FIBA event experience in Linda Junita Kelsall and Carollete Autufuga.

Autufuga averaged a solid 5.8 points per game two years ago, with her experience and two more years of development Autufuga is set to help lead Samo further up the standings than their 9^th place finish in 2014.

Kelsall has been busy leading up to this year’s tournament. Visiting Gold Coast Australia for the first ever Pacific Youth Leaders (PYL) Basketball Camp in August of this year. Upon her return, she was named the National Basketball Development Officer (NBDO) for the Samoa National Basketball Federation. Kelsall will be leaning on her pervious experience at the 2014 FIBA U18 Oceania Championships for Women and the PYL Camp to help lead her team against the best players in the region.
