Ropati’s double double helps Samoa stay undefeated

GUAM (FIBA U17 Women's Oceania Championship 2017) - Samoa improves to 2-0 after their 49 point win against Tahiti. Their aggressive play style showed through on the stat sheet, pulling down 60 rebounds and 22 steals. Tenva Ropati was responsible for a third of Samoa’s rebounds finishing the game with a 21 point, 21 rebound double-double.

Samoa’s superior athleticism and drive showed through in today’s performance.

“Both athleticism and aggressiveness allowed me to do well today and get as many rebounds as I did,” said Ropati.

“We communicate well - we really talk on and off the court, we get along so well and our bench did a good job cheering on our teammates.”

Ropati attributed her team’s undefeated status to how their closeness on and off the court.

“I’d say our bond is what will help us stay undefeated and we all really want to get a medal.”

FIBA.basketball asked Ropati about the Day 3 matchup against Australia.

“We all know Australia and New Zealand are up there in the competition but we can't let ourselves feel threatened. We have to stay focused can't let ourselves be intimidated.”
