Oceania powerhouse Australia appointed Justin Schueller and Tracy York for their U15 Boys and U15 Girls team respectively, which will be competing in the FIBA U15 Oceania Championship on December 3-8 in Papua New Guinea.

Oceania powerhouse Australia have appointed Justin Schueller and Tracy York as head coaches for their U15 Boys and U15 Girls team respectively, to compete at the FIBA U15 Oceania Championship FROM December 3-8 in Papua New Guinea.

Schueller was the head coach of the Australian U17 squad that played in this year's World Cup in Argentina.

Meanwhile, York who coached Guam's U17 squad last year is a respected coach with more than 30 years of experience which also includes stints in the SEABL, WNBL, and Australian youth teams.

"All of Basketball Australia's youth teams now have to negotiate the new process which adds further opportunities for not only our athletes but our coaches as well," Basketball Australia General Manager High Performance, Jan Stirling said to australia.basketball

According to Stirling, Basketball Australia will also have performance evaluations for head coaches after Asia Cup campaigns."This is important as our head coaches will now be evaluated and reviewed after a tournament in the same way our athletes are," said Stirling.

The new competition system format will involve a three-step process for the U17 World Cup in 2019.

The top two teams of the tournament will qualify for the FIBA U16 Asia and the next two will play in Division B. The top four teams of the Asia meet will book a ticket to the U17 World Cup.
