Amoding stars for KCCA Leopards in emphatic win against Horseed

KAMPALA (FIBA Africa Champions Cup Women 2017) - KCCA shooting guard Moreen Amoding sunk an incredible game high 39 points as her side made light work of Horseed from Somalia who are yet to win a game at the FIBA Africa Zone 5 Clubs Championship at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.

The Ugandan side led 37-9 at the end of the first quarter and completely dominated the game in every aspect but most especially in the paint.

A 72-19 lead at the half time break was enough to spell out the destiny of the encounter with Roger Sserunyigo's side looking to establish a high score that could come in handy at the round robin competition that attracted seven participating teams from four countries.

Her teammates Joy Chemutai, Larissa Katungeko and captain Halima Nabasumba added 20, 13 and 11 points in that order to secure KCCA's third victory to bring their ratio to 3-1 and on course for the title challenge.

Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) defeated Don Bosco of Tanzania 92-43 with Anne Rose Lumutu leading the scoring chart with 18 points. Betty Kananu and Lucy Lubanga added 13 apiece with the latter picking 18 rebounds.

Equity Hawks made it four wins out of four matches with a 61-51 win over Rwandan champions APR who were within close range during the game but a rather mediocre last quarter run gave them away.

Once again Mercy Wanyama was at the helm of her side's offense with 14 points and nine rebounds to inspire the Equity Hawks to a much needed victory while Susan Akinyi Odhiambo added 13 points and seven rebounds.

APR center Charlotte Umugwaneza scored 14 points and six rebounds but this was not enough to help her side win and they slid to a 1-3 win ratio.

The top two teams from this tournament will represent Zone 5 at the FIBA Africa Champions Cup Women 2017 set to be held in Angola from November 3-12.
